Finding Your Future in Jesus

Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the Lord...


God has great plans for you. Are you ready to walk in His will? Maybe you already know where God is leading you. Maybe you're not sure yet. No matter where you are in your spiritual journey, consider the following:

1) Pray without ceasing. No matter what's going on, you need to communicate with the Creator. "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).

2) Read the Bible. Ask God to open your eyes to what He wants you to see and learn. You can read the same Bible verse twenty times, and get twenty different things out of it. Depending on what you're going through at the moment, God's Word can speak to you in varying ways. Isn't that cool? "Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law." (Psalm 119:18).

3) Patience. Just because you want something now, doesn't mean you'll necessarily get it at this very moment. Remember, God's timing is better than our timing. He sees the bigger picture when we only see this moment. "But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently." (Romans 8:25).

4) Be willing to go anywhere to be used by Jesus. If we were to be honest, we all have a Nineveh, somewhere we don't want to go. No matter where God leads you in this life, follow His will and He will be with you every step of the way. "Go to the great city of Nineveh and proclaim to it the message I give you." (Jonah 3:2).

5) Be content with where God places you. God wants you where you are for a reason. Rejoice in that! For me as a singer/songwriter, I have learned that I need to be content whether God puts me on a big stage or a small stage. Whether I'm performing in a stadium of thousands of people, or singing some songs at a small coffee shop, I can still be used effectively. Be a blessing to the people around you! "I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength." (Philippians 4:12-13).

6) When God calls you to move, then move. You may think you know where God is leading, just to find He wants you to go a completely different direction. Ecclesiastes 3 says there is a season for everything. If you only remember one thing, let it be this: You can't put God in a box. He continues to surprise me everyday with His wondrous love! Ask God to bless you and that He would use you effectively to carry out His will. "Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, 'Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.' And God granted his request." (1 Chronicles 4:10).
