10 Things I Do When I'm Voiceless

Okay, so when you’re flat on the couch with a cold, you have to entertain yourself somehow, right? As a singer/songwriter (and someone who loves to talk), it’s the most tragic thing ever to lose my voice. So I thought I’d share my favorite things to do when I have a cold and no voice.

1) Listening to every Owl City song ever recorded.  Yes… it’s been done.

2) Eating as much as possible. Starve a fever, feed a cold… right? Haha! Just kidding.

3) Typing silly messages using text-to-speech software.

4) Writing lyrics for new songs and praying I remember the tune when I can sing again.

5) Trying to sing anyway and being reminded exactly why I’m on vocal rest.

6) Writing blog posts about having no voice. (See what I did there?!)

7) Sleeping…. like forever. Then waking up to the cold reality that “forever” was really just 5 minutes.

8) Confession: Spending way too much time on Facebook.

9) Remixing “Expectations” on my computer to sound like the Chipmunks are singing it. Hilarious!

10) Googling my name and geeking out about at all the websites that are selling my CD in Euros.
